Palm tree in watercolor

First video of 2020, in an other country, with totally different subjects and inspirations ! Happy new year ! And last start this year with a palm tree painting !

I won’t upload, this time, my reference picture because this palm tree is sitting just in the courtyard at the back of my appartement ! But it’s a fairly comun palm tree quite big and with so much different tones of greens and even orange and yellows. It’s very exotic to have a palm tree just at my window and there is even a colony of parakeet living in this tree !

It’s my first time painting a palm tree (i did paint a sunset with just silhouettes of palm tree before), and it was a very interesting exercises especially for all the mark making work. Tracing all the fine line to create the texture of the palm leaves was very fun to do ! And i was able to play a lot with colors. At first lots of green, warm and colder, touch of orange and then adding lavander to that first colors was very revealing…
